This year marks ([link removed]) the 60th anniversary of the first provincial single-payer health insurance plan in Canada — and the 50th anniversary of the extension of single-payer across our northern neighbor.
And yet, across the border in the United States, Medicare for All seems like a progressive pipe dream. What gives? Or, as progressive activist Ralph Nader recently asked ([link removed]) , why aren’t there “regular marches on Washington to pass Medicare-for-All?”

As PRI’s recent health care satisfaction survey demonstrated, Americans are generally happy with their current health care coverage. However, patients want Congress to act to give them more affordable health care choices and promote innovation.
Among PRI’s reforms to achieve these goals are expanding scope of practice laws so nurse practitioners and physician assistants can do more testing without having to have a doctor present, which is a reform supported by 82 percent of patients in a July Morning Consult poll ([link removed]) .

Democrats are riding high on the public support they’ve garnered for passing legislation giving Medicare the power to negotiate for lower prices from drug makers. A Politico-Morning Consult Poll found that 76% of Americans support price caps on drugs, while only 13% do not.
