Did you know October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month (DSAM)?
Down syndrome is one of the most common types of intellectual disabilities (ID). So it’s no surprise that each year in October, we join together with our global community in recognizing the abilities, contributions, and leadership of our athletes who have Down syndrome.
People with Down syndrome still face stereotypes and myths, but they’ve shown time and again that the condition is just one part of who they are and doesn’t define them or limit their abilities. That’s why it’s so important that during DSAM and all year long, we help spread the message of love, acceptance, inclusion, and respect.
Special Olympics gives people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities the confidence they need to succeed, on and off the playing field. Will you help us give them a chance?
Your gift to Special Olympics helps ensure a brighter future for people with Down syndrome and others with ID. Are you ready to help build a more accepting world?
