# [#]I know public safety is top of mind for many Americans right now. I’m pleased to report that we have accomplished a great deal of public safety reform this year – including: *
The
Invest
to
Protect
Act,
which
provides
funds
for
small
and
midsize
police
departments
and
invests
in
officer
safety,
de-escalation,
and
domestic
violence
response
training.
*
*
The
Mental
Health
Justice
Act,
which
helps
Americans
experiencing
mental
health
crises.
This
bill
invests
in
trained
mental
health
professionals
who
can
respond
to
911
calls
from
those
in
distress.
*
*
The
Break
the
Cycle
of
Violence
Act,
which
can
prevent
crime
from
happening
in
the
first
place.
This
legislation
invests
in
violence
intervention
and
prevention
programs
that
can
stop
the
cycle
of
violence.
*
*
And,
the
VICTIM
Act,
which
will
help
law
enforcement
solve
gun
crimes
and
homicides.
This
bill
hires
and
trains
detectives
and
victim
support
personnel
to
investigate
crimes
and
support
victims.
These four pieces of legislation are critical to our efforts to improve public safety in San Diego and across the nation and I strongly support the work we’ve done to rise above partisan politics and make real progress on these issues.
As always, I would like to hear your thoughts on these measures and the work we have left to do. It’s important to me that we stay in touch about what Congress is working on – so your feedback and input is truly appreciated.
You can respond directly to this email.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
