Other ECOS leadership in the photo appear left of Parfitt - ECOS President Myra Reece (SC), ECOS Vice President Chuck Carr Brown (LA), and ECOS Secretary-Treasurer Liesl Eichler Clark (MI) - in that order.

Todd Parfitt, Director of Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) recently attended the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) Fall Meeting.

Formed in 1993, ECOS is a national nonprofit, nonpartisan association of state and territorial environmental agency leaders.? The focus of the Fall Meeting was ?Taking Innovation to New Heights? and included presentations on State Innovations, Solutions on Wildfire and Drought, Resiliency Approaches to Storms, Sea-level Rise, and many other thought-provoking topics.?

Parfitt has represented Wyoming and has served many years in leadership positions with ECOS including President and Past-President.? In July, he was re-appointed to serve another term as Past-President due to vacancies and will bring with him a wealth of knowledge.? As noted in a press release issued by ECOS, Parfitt will be a ?valuable addition due to his proven regional and national expertise.?? His appointment was announced during the Fall Meeting.

These types of appointments require extra work; however, Parfitt believes it is vital for Wyoming to be fully engaged. ?The mission of ECOS is to provide leadership on environmental issues of national importance. It?s important that Wyoming participates in order to provide input to ECOS and their work. Each state has their unique goals and issues. I want to make sure that Wyoming?s are heard.?
