Dear Friend,

The countdown has already begun to the 2020 nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference. This is a once every five years opportunity where governments get together to review the progress they have made towards the goal of the Treaty - complete disarmament of all nuclear weapons.

As we know, there has been little progress since the last Review conference: every nuclear weapons state is 'modernising' its arsenal.

The UK is a major culprit. It signed the NPT in 1968, but continues to possess nuclear weapons, and has committed to replacing Trident. We need to act now to make sure our government participates in this conference at a high level, and takes its legal obligations seriously. This is particularly important as the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons may well come into force this year.

If you can help us raise £14,000, we'll print a full page advert in a national newspaper before the NPT Review Conference begins at the end of April, urging people to lobby the government to send a high level delegation to participate.

We could reach around 600,000 people this way, and the more people we can get involved, the more pressure we can put on the government.

If just 700 people donate £20 each, we'll have enough to place the advert, but any amount will help towards the cost. The advert will feature your name, along with hundreds of others who want to see nuclear weapons banned for good.
Please, help us support the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty by making a donation and adding your name to our newspaper advert. Thank you.
In peace,
Kate Hudson
General Secretary
P..S. We must receive your donation by 29th of February for your name to appear.
