Dear Friend,
Coming out as trans was a life-saving experience for me. Being able to be my true, authentic self is a game changer. Unfortunately, not every LGBTQ person is as fortunate. In more than 80 countries—from Afghanistan to Russia to Zambia—coming out means risking vicious persecution and even death.
As attacks continue against LGBTQ people in the United States and around the world, I am reminded of the importance of commemorating Coming Out Day. That’s why I’m asking you to join me in supporting Immigration Equality. Every day, they assist LGBTQ individuals in urgent need of life-saving asylum.
If not for the work of my friends at Immigration Equality, countless LGBTQ refugees would never experience the joy of coming out.
Friend -- will you join me in supporting Immigration Equality with a gift in honor of those who aren't able to safely come out? Any amount helps, but I encourage you to consider giving $80 or more today for those living in the 80+ countries where it is a crime or extremely dangerous to come out as LGBTQ.
Support them now with a gift of $80, representing the 80 countries where it is a crime or extremely dangerous to come out as LGBTQ.
For me, taking action for trans and queer immigrants feels like a natural extension of who I am. It feels good to be actively engaged. We all need to utilize our privilege in our own ways.
Show your solidarity with LGBTQ migrants struggling to come out in safety. Make a generous donation to Immigration Equality.
Warmly,
Elliot Page
