Hey team, I’ve had such a great time out on the campaign trail, meeting new friends and talking about the issues that matter most to Illinois’ working families. I know there are a lot of new folks on our team, so I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself and share 5 things you might not know about me:
- I was born in Peoria, Illinois. Growing up, my parents taught me the value of family, community, and service to others.
- I’ve worked with the firefighters and meatpackers union to make sure they have the workplace protections, benefits, pay, training, and equipment they deserve.
- Two of my biggest inspirations are my grandpa – a union painter – and my grandma – a public school teacher. From my grandpa, I learned how unions built and sustained the middle class, and from my grandma, I learned the value of a good education.
- In Governor Pritzker’s office, I helped expand high-speed broadband internet across Illinois and led the charge to raise the state minimum wage to $15 an hour.
- I wholeheartedly believe that a woman should be able to make her own reproductive health care decisions without the interference of the government.
