Friend,
I don’t need to remind you how much is at stake in the coming midterm, but one issue that stands out for me is
health care and protecting our community’s well-being. I’ve been asked about this quite a bit lately, so I wanted to take a moment to share more about where I stand.
- Health care needs to be affordable for everyone -- plain and simple. When we hear stories about IL-17 residents being forced to choose between buying life-saving medication or paying the rent, alarm bells need to go off and we need to see that as a serious problem. That’s where we’re at right now, and in Congress, I won’t just assume Big Pharma will do the right thing. I’ll demand fairness and accountability.
- Reproductive freedom needs to be protected. The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was a grave threat to bodily autonomy. If elected, I will advocate that Congress codify the rights that Roe established.
- Health care needs to be recognized as an issue of equity. Times are already tough, and we can’t expect working parents to focus on earning a living when they don’t feel well -- either physically or mentally. We also need to fight discrimination in health care that marginalized groups like the LGBTQ community face.
Today’s GOP has already made it clear where they stand on the issue of health care – less help for those who need it, zero oversight on price gouging, and draconian reproductive laws.
So much is at stake. If you’re ready to elect someone who will treat health care with the urgency it deserves, chip in $5 to give our campaign a boost in these final weeks before the General Election, Any amount helps.
