Conservation Groups Win Major Appeal in Challenge to Gross Dam Expansion

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed our right to challenge the project permits for expansion of Colorado's Gross Dam and Reservoir. Waterkeeper Alliance General Counsel and Advocacy Director Dan Estrin said, “The river, its communities, and its ecosystems are dying a proverbial ‘death by a thousand cuts...' and cannot afford to be further drained to fill another enormous reservoir." Protecting Cabo Pulmo’s Coast

A community-based organization founded and operated by Cabo Pulmo residents, Cabo Pulmo Coastkeeper was originally established to care for and protect local sea turtles. Today, its mission has expanded to promote the conservation of the Cabo Pulmo National Park as well as the well-being of local communities.

While this means more jobs for the community, it also means increased threats to the nearby Ogeechee, a wild and free-flowing black water river.
