My name is Ricardo Perez and I work at Amazon’s KSBD air hub in San Bernardino. My colleagues and I have been organizing with the support of Warehouse Worker Resource Center, an affiliate of PowerSwitch Action. I’m writing to let you know that we, Inland Empire Amazon Workers United, are going on strike [[link removed]] to protest Amazon’s unfair labor practices this Friday, October 14th! [[link removed]]

Last week we gave Amazon a deadline [[link removed]] to meet our demands for a living wage, safety on the job, and an end to retaliation. Amazon failed to respond.
Here’s a quick recap of what’s been going down at KSBD:

By
August,
900+
workers
signed
a
petition
for
an
hourly
pay
increase.
*
Then
150+
of
us
walked
off
the
job
to
demand
better
pay,
safe
working
conditions,
and
an
end
to
retaliation.
*
During
September’s
heatwave,
we
recorded
temperatures
as
high
as
121
degrees
onsite
and
confronted
management
about
health
and
safety
concerns.
*
A
few
weeks
ago,
Amazon
announced
an
insulting
$1/hour
pay
increase.
*
We
gave
Amazon
a
deadline
(yesterday)
to
meet
our
demands,
and
they
failed.
Now, we’re going on strike to protest Amazon’s unfair labor practices and their shameful response to us fighting for better, safer jobs with fair wages and an end to retaliation. I’ve lived in San Bernardino pretty much all my life, and I know what it takes to work and survive in this region. We, Amazon workers and communities, deserve better from one of the richest corporations in the world. It’s time to #PayUpAmazon.
