NYC Proposes Reward for Reporting Parking Violations in Bike Lanes

An NYC Council member is pushing a bill that would allow residents to report parking violations in bike lanes. Council Member Lincoln Restler believes the New York Police Department (NYPD) is not doing enough to enforce traffic rules.

Reportable violations include parking in bike lanes and blocking the entrances of school buildings, sidewalks, and crosswalks. Those who submit a violation to the Department of Transportation (DOT) can earn 25% of a proposed $175 ticket.
