You’ve seen it in Florida. In Texas. Alabama. Even northern Virginia and upstate New York. Whether it’s from legislators, attorney generals, media figures, or school boards, our queer and trans youth are under attack. Congress has the power to protect LGBTQ youth nationwide with just ONE piece of transformative legislation -- the Equality Act. Head here to send a letter to your Senators and demand they take action on National Coming Out Day.
Hi John,
It's National Coming Out Day! This day, which has been celebrated every year since 1988, is rooted in queer resistance and in 2022 that hasn't changed — but this year, we're taking action on this important day.
This year for National Coming Out Day, we are amplifying the Equality Act — a vital piece of civil rights legislation that explicitly protects the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination in healthcare, employment, schools, shelters, and more. This legislation specifically protects transgender young people who have been the target of transphobic attacks from many elected representatives. Can we count on you to take action by sending a letter to your Senator in just a few easy steps?
Right now, there are ZERO federal laws prohibiting discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation or gender identity. Now more than ever, we need sweeping protections for LGBTQ+ people because today and everyday, they deserve safety from discrimination.
If you've already sent a letter to your Senator, click here to re-share our Equality Act post on your Instagram stories so you can encourage your friends to contact their Senators as well!
Thank you for taking action on this vital piece of legislation! Together, let's move this over this finish line so we can enshrine LGBTQIA+ protections in the Constitution! 🌈
In solidarity,
