Tarikwa and King
Snatched from her mother as a tiny cub, Tarikwa was a fragile baby, her leg broken, and so weak that she could barely stand - an innocent victim of Ethiopia’s wildlife trade. When we were alerted to her desperate plight, Tarikwa was rushed to our wildlife Rescue Centre, where our expert team battled to save her life.
Sadly, x-rays revealed a spinal fracture, related to low bone density due to the poor diet she received before we rescued her. Despite our very best efforts, Tarikwa had to be lovingly and gently put to sleep by our vet. She had only been in our care a few months, but she had touched all our hearts.
And remember King? Found beaten and abused in a Paris apartment, then safely transported to the safety of Shamwari. Thankfully, he has thrived alongside companion Thea, who was also in terrible condition when rescued from the exotic pet trade in France.
