Good morning,

Should the Texas comptroller fine businesses that host drag shows targeting minors? Sound off below in the One Click Survey.

But first, here is the Texas Minute for Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022.

– Michael Quinn Sullivan

More Counties Declare Border Invasion Texans have been sounding the alarm for over a year now regarding the devastation to property, livelihoods, and human life as Venezuela sends Texas their criminals and Texas spends billions on border security efforts that cannot halt the oncoming traffic without the ability to deport them.

Sydnie Henry reports [[link removed]] there are now 34 Texas counties that have passed proclamations declaring an invasion at the state’s southern border. They are asking Gov. Greg Abbott to do likewise.

Hamilton [[link removed]], Lavaca [[link removed]], and Ector [[link removed]] counties are the latest to have declared an invasion.

The other counties include: Kinney, Goliad, Terrell, Parker, Wise, Edwards, Atascosa, Presidio, Tyler, Live Oak, Rockwall, Johnson, Wilson, Hardin, Chambers, Ellis, Orange, Liberty, Throckmorton, Madison, Jasper, Van Zandt, Wichita, Clay, Jack, Hunt, Montague, Hood, Wharton, Burnet, and Collin counties. Busing Stats On Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott posted to social media that Texas has bused more than 12,300 migrants to sanctuary cities around the country. That breaks down as more than…

➡️ 8,200 to D.C.

➡️ 3,200 to NYC

➡️ 920 to Chicago

“#OperationLoneStar is helping small border towns by busing migrants to sanctuary cities that can support them,” tweeted [[link removed]] Abbott.

That’s been fun [[link removed]] and all, but Gov. Abbott could REALLY help those small towns by declaring an invasion at the southern border and stopping these miscreants from entering our state. Ken Cuccinelli, a senior fellow with the Center for Restoring America, explains how [[link removed]].

Meanwhile, the Vice media organization is reporting [[link removed]] “Mexico’s military sold hand grenades and tactical equipment to drug cartels, according to a series of official documents leaked by a hacker group.”

If it waddles and quacks like an invasion… Hegar Drags His Feet A week after pro-family organizations condemned him for “dragging his feet” on his investigation into a Dallas gay bar that hosted an explicit “all-ages” drag show earlier this year, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is staying silent. Brandon Waltens has the update [[link removed]].

In June, the Dallas bar Mr. Misster hosted a “Drag the Kids to Pride” event, where scantily clad men dressed as women danced suggestively in front of children. Citizens asked Comptroller Hegar to investigate the bar, as Texas law requires that sexually oriented businesses pay a per-patron fee to the state and cannot allow minors in attendance.

In August, Hegar announced his office would investigate the bar, saying he was “disturbed” by images of the event and that it was “inconsistent with our Texas values.”

“Kids are still being subjected to perverse drag shows here in the Lone Star state,” said Chris Hopper, president of the Texas Family Project. “Going silent is not a good look from Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar on the topic of sexualizing kids.” UTA Creates ‘Queer Safe Space’ Taxpayers are subsiding the creation of a “queer safe space” at the University of Texas at Arlington for LGBT students. As Katy Drollinger reports [[link removed]], this is described as a place for them to study, attend support groups, and read “queer books.”

Late last month, UTA’s library department announced its collaboration with the university’s LGBTQ+ program to create the Rainbow Lounge, with Multidisciplinary Liaison Librarian Elle Covington calling the initiative a “visible representation of the library’s support for our queer and trans students.”

Did I mention you are subsidizing this?

In response to the creation of UTA’s “queer safe space,” student and grassroots activist Carlos Turcios condemned the project and criticized the university for indoctrinating students.

“Safe Spaces only create echo chambers and further lead to social justice indoctrination,” said Turcios. “Ironically, safe spaces are not spaces of inclusion.”

The University of Texas at Arlington is overseen by the University of Texas System’s Board of Regents, led by Chairman Kevin Eltife. All UT System regents were appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott and confirmed by the Texas Senate.

School Boards Are ‘New Election Battleground in Texas’ Boosted by momentum from big wins in May [[link removed]], conservative school board candidates on the November ballot are picking up big endorsements in their fights to help Texas parents reclaim public schools from leftist ideologies. Erin Anderson has the latest details [[link removed]].

Calling local school board races “the new election battleground in Texas,” the Republican Party of Texas is endorsing 11 candidates in three key school districts this November: Princeton, Round Rock, and Wylie.

“Education and parents’ rights are at the forefront of Texans’ minds and the Texas GOP’s platform,” the RPT said when announcing the endorsements. “Local elections for school boards can no longer be considered ‘non-partisan.’” When Someone Tells You Who They Are… Late last week, PayPal announced changes to their user agreement. What changes? They were going to fine PayPal users $2,500 for “misinformation.” Of course, they get to decide what constitutes “misinformation.” After an avalanche of weekend backlash, PayPal now claims the policy change was made in error. But when someone tells you who they are, you should believe them.

Trusting Silicon Valley companies rarely turns out well for citizens...

That’s why Texas Scorecard will no longer utilize PayPal. This will most certainly cost us financially, as standing for the truth often does. But being free to keep citizens informed is too important to be tied down by Big Tech.

You can still support our work [[link removed]] without having to worry about the information censors.

Please join me in wishing a very happy birthday to Texas Scorecard’s Erin Anderson!

“When law and morality contradict each other, the citizen has the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense or losing his respect for the law.”

– Frédéric Bastiat
