Happy International Day of the Girl

On this day celebrating the rights and futures of girls everywhere, we invite you to support Pakistani girls in achieving their dreams.

In northern Pakistan, The Awakening is building feminist leadership and engaging boys, men and religious leaders in the struggle for gender equality. This inspiring charity runs girls' and boys' clubs where sexual and reproductive rights are discussed openly. They also enable access to contraception and safe abortion care for Pakistan's most marginalised women.

The situation is urgent.

One third of Pakistan is underwater. Such devastation caused by climate change means that 12.5 million girls globally may not be able to complete their education. Around the world, 10 million girls are at risk of child marriage.

But you can help.

Right now, The Awakening is organising events throughout the Swat District for the International Day of the Girl and 16 Days of Activism against gender based violence.

They are working to protect the human rights of Pakistani girls, children and women, while facing the immense challenges of flood emergency relief efforts.
