Hi John,
Yep, we’re feeling it again. Gas prices are up.
Last week, the average cost of gas across Oregon rose to $5.53 per gallon, up more than 80 cents from a month ago. It’s outrageous!
Guess who’s making record-shattering profits? Big Oil.
The combined profits of the largest energy companies in the first quarter of 2022 was nearly $100 billion. And where is that money going? Lining the pockets of corporate polluters, wealthy CEOs, and shareholders. Oregonians shouldn’t have to pay the price of corporate greed.
To tackle rising costs and hold corporate price-gougers accountable, we need real leadership. My opponents, conservatives Betsy Johnson and Christine Drazan, have accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the same corporations that are passing higher costs onto all of us. And while Betsy or Christine might not care about paying an extra $10 or $20 for gas every time they fill up, the rest of us sure do.
Corporate polluters are bankrolling my out-of-touch opponents because they know that I’m the only one who will rein in their corporate greed. And they know I’ll work tirelessly to make sure every Oregonian has an opportunity to thrive.
Oregonians deserve a Governor who understands the pain that high prices cause for working families. They deserve real solutions that will lower costs, and they deserve a Governor that will fight for them – not special interests.
