As an election protector, you’ll be there to make sure your neighbors have their voices heard by helping them navigate the voting process and allowing them to cast their ballots without the fear of intimidation or confusion. With right-wing attacks on our democracy, voters are discouraged from voting or being fed misinformation.

When I was an election protector in Pennsylvania in 2020, I was surprised by the number of people running to vote right before closing who didn’t know their polling locations had changed. As an election protector who was adequately trained for this scenario, I was able to quickly help these people find their new polling place. I went home knowing that I did everything in my power to ensure every eligible voter I interacted with was able to vote.

As an election protector, you’ll actively fight back against voter suppression in Washington—and it’s a rewarding, kick-ass experience.

You’ll be the front line of defense. Volunteers will inform voters of their rights, keeping an eye on things, and for in-person voters, just that friendly face your neighbors will see when they’re getting ready to cast their ballot. Election Protection is also actively working to track online disinformation, and your work on that this year could be vital.
