BIG news, John:
President Biden has pardoned ALL prior federal offenses for simple marijuana possession, changing the lives of thousands of Americans and fulfilling a major campaign promise.
The president urged all governors to do the same for state-level, non-violent marijuana possession offenses. He has also requested the Attorney General and Department of Health and Human Services to review marijuana’s Schedule I classification under the Controlled Substances Act.
This is a huge step forward for equity and progress. An emotional victory. A real relief for thousands who have been denied housing, employment, and federal benefits due to their prior non-violent marijuana convictions. I am overjoyed — though there is still more work to be done.
This is a major step forward to bring an end to the destructive, failed War on Drugs. I am urging the administration to follow through and remove marijuana from Schedule I of the CSA — where it is now on the same level as deadly substances such as heroin.
Add your name to join my call for the Biden administration to deschedule marijuana from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act before the midterm elections. This is another important step toward restorative justice and bringing an end to the War on Drugs.
Thank you for speaking up on this issue of enormous consequence for our country, our people, and our future.
With love and gratitude,
Cory
