Learn more about our newest holiday.

Friends, today is National Indigenous Peoples' Day. This marks the second year that the United States Federal Government recognized the holiday. We've come a long way since I was a young boy.?I remember being heckled because of the color of my skin throughout my childhood.?

There are now 14 states, the federal government, and over 130 municipalities that recognize this holiday. Let's use today to learn a little bit about North Carolina's state recognized tribes.

There are 8 state-recognized tribes here in this state. In the legislature, I chaired the Federal Relations and American Indian Affairs subcommittee. Our job was to vet proposals that impacted our tribal communities across the state!?

If elected in November, I will be the first American Indian Congressman from North Carolina. That is something I do not take lightly and I am thankful for the opportunity.?

There is much at stake this election. We're fighting for democracy, for more resources for our communities, for better access to healthcare, and for medical privacy for women across the nation.?

I hope to have your support! A donation of even $10 makes all the difference.?

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!?

Best,

Charles Graham?
