Friend,
Utahns, and Americans, are fed up with the broken politics of Washington.
Politicians in both parties are beholden to special interest groups and party bosses, allowing the corrupting influence of both to poison our political process.
And as our political system declines, our democracy is increasingly under attack. That’s why I’ve released my plan to begin tackling these immense challenges and change our broken politics.
As Utah’s next U.S. Senator, I will:
Stand up to corruption and influence peddling to ensure our elected leaders work for people, not special interest groups. That includes stopping members of Congress from trading individual stocks, banning leadership PACs, and instituting a lifetime ban on members of Congress from becoming lobbyists.
Strengthen our essential institutions and counter political extremism. I’ll support immediate reform of the Electoral Count Act to protect our electoral certification process, work to end the anti-democratic practice of partisan gerrymandering, and protect voting rights for all eligible Americans.
Change Senate rules to encourage cross-partisan communication and problem-solving. I’ll work with others to advance critical legislation based on its merits, not the influence of party bosses, and create opportunities for senators to work across party lines to reach shared understanding and find common ground.
If you’re ready to elect an independent leader committed to defending American democracy, I humbly ask that you pitch in to support my Senate campaign and protect democracy from those who seek to destroy it >>
Less than two years ago, America faced a deliberate coup attempt led by the sitting President and people like my far-right opponent, Mike Lee.
Senator Lee’s weaponization of weaknesses in our system to try to overturn millions of votes and overthrow the government is one of the most egregious betrayals of the Constitution and the American identity in our history.
And the continued lies about election fraud, which Lee still promotes, are fueling a dangerous rise in violent political extremism that must be stopped.
In Washington, the two dominant political parties barely even talk to each other, much less work together to protect our democratic republic and solve the pressing challenges facing Utahns and all Americans.
Things have to change. We must fix our broken politics and renew our commitment to our founding ideals and to America’s future.
Here in Utah, we are building a cross-partisan coalition to do just that.
Principled Republicans, Democrats and independents are coming together around the idea that we can — and we must — renew our democracy and finally deliver accountable, effective leadership of, by, and for the people.
But we still need more people to support our pro-democracy movement if we’re going to compete with — and ultimately defeat — the party bosses and powerful special interest groups at the heart of Senator Lee’s campaign.
So please, if you’re able, will you donate whatever you can in order to defend American democracy and fix our broken politics? With only a few weeks before Election Day, we won’t succeed without your support.
Together,
Evan McMullin
