I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you need to know this: 

At the end of the day, my campaign faces a critical midnight fundraising deadline, and right now we're projecting to come up short of our goals.
 
Coming up short at this point in the election could have a catastrophic impact on our ability to win this race. I don't mean to alarm you, but that's the truth.
