Today Lt. Governor Josh Green called on the opposing ticket to release a plan to address climate change and protect Hawaii's environment.

“Voters deserve to know if their elected leaders will follow the science on climate change and protect our environment,” Josh said, “so they can decide who is prepared to lead the state on these issues. The next governor needs to have a plan to put into action on day one.”

Jonathan Likeke Scheuer, chair of the Political Committee of the Hawaii Chapter of the Sierra Club, criticized the opposing ticket's lack of policy substance on these issues:

“Lt. Governor Green’s opponent has no plan to address climate change and its impacts on Hawaii,” Scheuer said, “and his public statements on housing have called for eliminating the Land Use Commission and abolishing protections that are critical guardians of our natural, historic, and cultural resources. Hawaii can’t afford four years without serious leadership on climate and environmental issues.”

More than three months ago in June, our campaign released a detailed 10 point plan to address climate change, protect Hawaii’s environment, and transition to clean, renewable energy, then followed up in July with specific goals Josh's administration would work towards by 2026.

Last week the Sierra Club of Hawaii endorsed Josh for governor and called on voters who care about the environment and climate change to support him in the general election.
