For too long, national Democrats in Washington have taken the Rio Grande Valley for granted -- writing off my community as just another small blue cluster on the map that could be reliably counted on cycle after cycle.

Over the last two years, we’ve watched Republicans pour untold amounts of dark money into South Texas and redraw the lines to give them a heavy advantage. Meanwhile, national Democrats have refused to invest in South Texas communities -- refused to show our families that, if given the opportunity, Democrats would deliver for us.

We as Texas Democrats will not make that same mistake.

Even though national Democrats are ready to throw in the towel on Michelle Vallejo’s race in Texas 15, Friend we are not giving up. In fact, we’re doubling down on our commitment to win all three competitive House races in the Valley.

The Rio Grande Valley may just be a couple lines on a spreadsheet to political operatives in Washington, but Friend, that’s my community. We deserve representation that works for us. Especially when we have a state government of Republicans that works so diligently to demonize and undermine us.

Friend, if we are going to deliver for our neighbors in South Texas come Election Day, we are going to need a historic investment from people like you. That’s why today, we’re announcing a $250,000 goal for our South Texas Fund.

Your contribution means we can provide on-the-ground resources to these campaigns -- from social media and press support to door-knocking and voter contact. Every dollar counts.
