Dear Progressive readers,

As the year comes to a close, The Progressive continues to face ongoing threats to our survival that are common in the world of independent news media.

But in the matter of these threats we also have an unusual opportunity. A donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered to match up to $50,000 of the funds we raise above and beyond the targeted goal for this year's annual campaign, which is $100,000.
If we are able to raise $50,000 above our goal, plus this donor's match, we would be doubling our year end fundraising for 2019.

In a time when civil society groups across the country are seeing a decline in giving as a consequence of Trump’s changes to the tax law. This would make a huge difference for us, and really help us move forward in 2020, which I think will be a crucial year.
