This year alone, there have already been over 500 mass shootings in America.

Our gun violence epidemic claims thousands of lives each year. Lives, families, and communities are torn apart due to the gun lobby’s extreme agenda.

But there are some people, and some states, that have taken action. California Attorney General Rob Bonta is one of them – which is why today, I’m asking you to join me in supporting his election to a full term as Attorney General.

From launching a first-in-the-nation Office of Gun Violence Prevention through the California Department of Justice, to defending California’s nation-leading gun safety laws, to expanding programs designed to interrupt the cycle of violence and promoting red flag laws, Rob has been a true leader in the fight to end gun violence.

We’ve seen what happens in states where the opposite is true. Too many states have laws on the books catering to the gun lobby rather than working to prevent deaths and injuries due to guns.

We still have so much work to do to end the gun violence that has become a part of the fabric of life in our country. Our children shouldn’t go to school in fear. Parents shouldn’t wonder if their kids will come home, or if they themselves will become victims. Too many families and communities all across the country have felt the devastation of being touched by violence.

But I’m heartened when my home state California works to take preemptive measures to keep our communities safe – because we can create real change and a better future.
