A Lot Has Changed Since 2010 |
That year, Rise Against Hunger (then Stop Hunger Now), was in the midst of responding to a devastating Haiti earthquake. At the start of the decade, we never could have imagined the incredible impact we’d make alongside our volunteers and supporters worldwide. As 2019 comes to a close, we’re taking time to remember the moments that made the final year of the decade great. Join us below! |

Celebrating Our 500 Million Meal Milestone |
Our volunteer meal packaging program started in 2005, and has grown exponentially every year since. This fall, we reached an AMAZING milestone: 500 million meals packaged for distribution to those in need worldwide! We are so appreciative of the millions of volunteers in countries around the globe who made this possible. |

Four New Agriculture Initiatives Lift Communities |
This was a busy year for our Empowering Communities team! We launched four new agriculture initiatives in Malawi, Mali, Senegal and Zimbabwe. These programs seek to make lasting change in the lives of vulnerable groups including young children, people living with HIV/AIDS, people living with disabilities and pregnant and lactating women. |

Volunteers Worldwide Unite for World Food Day |
World Food Day is one of the most important days of the year at Rise Against Hunger. October 16, 2019, was no different! Companies and organizations across the globe chose to leverage World Food Day as an opportunity to promote awareness and action by hosting Rise Against Hunger Experience meal packaging events. |

We Reduced Our Global Footprint by 3.6+ Tons of Plastic |
We know that in our efforts to end world hunger, we need to put a dedicated focus on refining our systems to reduce our global footprint. By changing the materials in our plastic wrap, we have been able to reduce waste by over 3.6 tons — stretched to a length of over 417 miles, nearly the length of the state of Florida. |

265 Kids Received Backpacks for the School Year |
During the back-to-school season, our supporters provided 265 kids in classrooms around the globe with brand new backpacks full of school supplies for the year ahead. Setting kids up for success is critical for the difficult journey out of hunger and poverty. School meals combined with backpacks and school supplies give kids a head start toward reaching their full potential. |
