Friend,
Germany, England, and many in Europe are experiencing an energy crisis.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
Yes, there is a war in Ukraine, which has created a dramatic shift in the energy industry.
But the roots of their energy crisis began years ago, with Europe's domestic policies that are actively shutting down energy production in favor of "Green" energy solutions.
And unless changes happen, the Biden administration will import this energy crisis to America.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Pete Sepp, President of the National Taxpayers Union. My team and I are working with members of Congress to increase America’s energy independence.

I have no problem with green energy in itself. I approve of any sound policy that inspires the innovative spirit and provides all Americans with cleaner, more affordable energy.
But I support more of an “all the above” approach to energy policy.
And right now, all too many politicians are using Green policies to pick winners in the energy sector. This only leads to higher prices, more corruption, and increased incompetence. In the end, it’s the consumer who loses.
President Biden set the tone on his first day by canceling the Keystone Pipeline, which could have moved 510,000 barrels of oil per day if completed.
The Administration has also restricted the leasing and permitting of drilling on federal lands. They have approved the smallest acreage of oil and gas leases since World War 2.
Congress has also proposed implementing a windfall profits tax on the energy providers in our country. Such a tax would limit supply at a time when demand is high, and increasing supply is of the utmost importance.
The comically misnamed “Inflation Reduction Act” already slapped a “methane emissions charge” on natural gas, meaning Americans will likely pay higher prices for heating and electricity.
We can have a thriving energy production and market here in the U.S. but only if we convince Congress to take action. Can you chip in $10, $35, $50, or any amount to support our work with Congress? Click here to send your gift >>>
Congress needs to listen if they wish to improve the energy crisis soon.
Unfortunately, some in Washington have pushed for heavy-handed government mandates and taxes in the energy sector.
This is a misguided approach.
Congress needs to make changes to the tax code, like the full and permanent expensing of research and development (R&D) investments. Simple changes like that will help unleash innovation in energy production.
Additionally, we support thoughtful approaches to incentivize emissions reductions, like the Growing Climate Solutions Act, which facilitates the voluntary disclosure of such activities.
Free market solutions are the best way to create an environment that allows our innovators, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders to bring about cleaner, more affordable energy solutions.
You and I can steer Congress away from counterproductive energy policy proposals. And that advice is needed now more than ever!
