cutting through the bureaucracy. We are cutting through the red tape,”
Governor DeSantis said. “And that's from local government, state
government, all the way up to the president. So we appreciate the team
effort."
President
Biden praised Governor DeSantis’ leadership in the hurricane recovery:
“I think he’s done a good job."

FLORIDA RESPONSE TO HURRICANE IAN
CONTINUES
Governor
DeSantis is issuing daily updates along with Division of Emergency
Management Director Kevin Guthrie, First Lady Casey DeSantis, CFO
Jimmy Patronis and numerous federal, state and local emergency
management officials.
After
peaking at 2.4 million Floridians without power last week, there are
now fewer than 300,000 power outages. So nearly 90 percent of accounts
that lost power have been restored. There are currently 11 fueling
depot stations open statewide.
It’s
important to remember that the 42,000 linemen who have been working
heroically to restore power were pre-positioned ahead of the storm to
follow right in behind it to begin repairs immediately. This was
crucial in getting power back on quickly to so many.
More than
11.5 million MREs and 41 million bottles of water have been
distributed so far by the Florida Department of Emergency
Management.
Governor
DeSantis’ authorized Joint Task Force Florida and has 5,050 personnel

ATTORNEY GENERAL MOODY
EXPANDS PRICE GOUGING HOTLINE STATEWIDE
Attorney
General Ashley Moody has expanded Florida’s Price Gouging Hotline
statewide. All Floridians can now report instances of severe price
increases on essential commodities to the Attorney General's Office.
Florida’s price gouging law only applies to commodities and services
essential to preparing for, or recovering from, a storm during a
declared state of emergency.

ATTORNEY GENERAL MOODY
SENDS CONSUMER PROTECTION INVESTIGATORS TO LEE
COUNTY
While
Attorney General Moody’s expanded Price Gouging Hotline remains
active, many Floridians in the most affected areas do not have
internet or may not have access to cell phone service — making it
difficult to report allegations of extreme price increases or
disaster-related scams.
So AG Moody
is sending consumer protection investigators to the region to be on
the ground to protect hurricane victims from further
victimization.
