AFL-CIO

John,

This holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my utmost gratitude for all the working people who make our country go.

The service members who protect our freedom at home and abroad. The public service workers who keep our streets clean and safe. The firefighters who are ready to respond to an emergency at a moment’s notice. The dedicated professionals who package and prepare our food. The retail workers who help us find that perfect gift, and when the gift is not so perfect, process our return. The electrical workers who keep the lights on. The construction workers who build America as we sleep. The teachers working on their next lesson plan. The athletes and actors who entertain us. The steelworkers and mine workers and auto workers who make our communities strong. There are simply too many to name.

Just know this: Whatever and wherever you celebrate, a working person had a hand in making your holiday special. Today and every day, I am honored to represent America’s workers.

In Solidarity,

Richard Trumka
President, AFL-CIO
