In the 100 days since the Trump-packed U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe
v. Wade, at least 66 clinics across 15 states have been forced to stop
offering abortions.^1
There are now zero health care providers offering abortions in 14 of the
15 states.^2
Zero.
Not when a girl is raped. Not when a woman is the victim of domestic
violence. Not when there's a heart-wrenching fetal abnormality. And not
when the person who is pregnant doesn't want to be or cannot be pregnant.
It's devastating, John. But we need to be clear-eyed that it
may get a lot worse—and very quickly.
Senator Lindsay Graham has already proposed a national abortion ban in the
Senate, and House Republicans are chomping at the bit to pass an abortion
ban in the House—if they take over Congress in the midterm elections just
a few weeks from now.^3,4
And, in a terrifying development, the polls show Republicans gaining
ground and now ahead in key races that will determine control of the House
and Senate.^5
MoveOn has been planning for this moment: We're running our biggest

on turning out precisely the voters we need to win on Election Day.

The 15 states with at least 66 clinics no longer providing abortions are
enforcing either total or six-week abortion bans.^6
These states are home to about one-third of the total U.S. population of
girls, women, transgender, and nonbinary people who can get pregnant.^7
It's a gut-wrenching loss of freedom for millions of Americans. We have to
fight back, starting with making November's election a referendum on
abortion.
John, don't lose faith. The power is in our hands. If we come
together, we can make history in November, stop Republicans from taking
over Congress and banning abortion nationwide, and, if there's a real
Democratic wave, even pass a law strengthening Roe and making it the law
of the land once again.
Both futures are very possible. And what we do in the next 29 days will
determine which future we live in. Let's make it a future where freedom
actually rings.
