[ [link removed] ]Katie Porter for Congress

Outside groups have spent $5.5 million attacking Katie this year, and our
race has one of the biggest gulfs between what Democrat and Republican
groups have spent. We truly rely on grassroots support to run our
campaign: [ [link removed] ]Can you contribute $10 today?

John, it’s
pretty impossible to escape political advertisements right now. I broke
out the whiteboard to show you who is responsible for all these ads—if you
pay attention to who an ad says it’s “paid for by,” you’ll be able to spot
the difference between ads run by campaigns and those run by outside
groups.

[ [link removed] ]Katie's white board, which reads: Who pays for a political ad? Either a
candidate's campaign or outside groups.

Let’s first talk about those ads run by campaigns. Campaigns run ads
funded by their individual donors, and because my campaign doesn’t take
corporate PAC money, these ads are truly funded by grassroots donors. In
such a competitive district like this one, I’m proud that we’re able to
run TV and digital ads—thanks to you!

Now let’s talk about ads run by outside groups: this is where I’m getting
clobbered. Republican groups have spent $5.5 million on ads attacking me,
and this race has one of the biggest deficits between what Republican and
Democrat groups are spending in a race with an incumbent House Democrat.

The math is clear. The only reason I’m able to compete with these dark
money groups is because of supporters like you chipping in. Our average
donation this week is $24. [ [link removed] ]Can you contribute $24 today?

Thank you,

Katie Porter
