People live in fear. It is one of our most basic drivers. Thus it is perhaps unsurprising that the concerted effort of the wealthy elite was able to create the second Red Scare after World War 2, and less surprising that people who regularly listen to right wing pundits make socialism into a scary monster that enslaves people under evil dictators and destroys economies talk about socialism this way and wrongly attribute it to corrupt politicians instead of actual socialists.

The truth is that socialism is the next level of economic evolution. From feudalism to slavery to capitalism the structures of power have not significantly changed, only the tools of control have. The wealthy elite are still the wealthy elite and the poor are still peasants.

When we embrace a system that prioritizes everyone's basic needs over a system that prioritizes profit, we will end homelessness- we'll end poverty. And only THEN can we truly work on a system based on justice. Until that time we are simply wrapping plumber's tape around a leaky pipe for the umpteenth time and hoping it holds this time.

Socialism is working in multiple countries and it is lifting people out of poverty, despite the intense efforts of the US to weaken socialist countries. Our government does not want you to know that, and so it spends enormous energy to make socialist countries look like shit holes run by authoritarians. In contrast the US has many more vacant homes than homeless people and is the only place in the industrialized world where medical bankruptcy is a thing.

The censorship of anti-establishment voices needs to stop! This video of Katie Halper, who is employed by Rolling Stone and who has interviewed numerous members of Congress AND who happens to be Jewish, in which she explicitly lays out ways that Israel is an apartheid state got her fired as a contributor to the Hill.

In 2019 the US military commissioned a study that found that the US could advance its interests by weakening Russia with proxy wars in Ukraine, Belarus, central Asia and some other areas. A year and a half later, Azerbaijan attacked Armenia and Ukraine signed a military cooperation treaty with NATO and began holding war games off Russia's coast with the United States. Then a couple of months later, there was an uprising in Kazakhstan (in central Asia). A couple months after that the most popular Prime Minister in Pakistani history is ousted by an alleged US-backed candidate. If you can't see how all of this relates to the study, we need to talk.

Shame on for-profit dialysis centers for offering sub-standard care and not maintaining the presence of a doctor, and shame on them for spending millions to advertise against improving care and threatening to close down if they're forced to have a doctor present. Dialysis is a multi-billion dollar industry. This is nothing but an attempt to protect their profits. Disgusting! Our healthcare system is predatory.
How can Gavin Newsom oppose taxing incomes over $2 million to help low income families get electric vehicles and fund charging stations in low income neighborhoods and still call himself a Democrat?
