There are always strange things happening in Washington D.C., but recently I've been receiving an unusual amount of attention from the National Republican Campaign Committee.

In an interview last week, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy attacked my leadership in Congress and later Tweeted out his support for my new hand-picked Republican opponent.

They're so focused on my race that they've even had Republican trackers following me in both D.C. and home in Oregon!

It's no surprise that they're pulling out all of the stops. For one thing, my district is the most politically diverse in the country; In 2016, it was the closest district in the presidential race which Hillary Clinton won by only 554 votes. It's also one of only eight evenly rated congressional districts in the nation so it's a true battleground.

The National Republican Campaign Committee thinks this will be the election that they finally flip this seat and they're stepping up their attacks. But I know you'll remain by my side.

It's pretty straightforward. No matter how much they attack me, I know I'm fighting on the right side for the people of my district and this country. Our movement stands for:

• A Green New Deal
• Universal health care.
• Reproductive rights.
• Democratic principles.
• Working families.

In 2020, we'll need to fight harder than ever to stand together and defend our seat in Congress.
