John, in a minute, I’m going to ask you to chip in $5 to help me DEFEAT Kevin McCarthy, but first, I want to fill you in on the GOP’s latest political scheme.

You always hear Republicans shouting from the rooftops that Democrats are “soft on crime” and are out to “defund the police”. Not only are these manipulative scare tactics, they’re also complete lies.

When House Democrats unanimously voted on a bill to give billions to local law enforcement, Kevin McCarthy didn’t even show up to vote. Apparently he was too busy doing political gymnastics to justify the crimes committed by his own party -- like attacking our nation’s capital, attempting to overthrow an election, and stealing classified documents from the White House.

John, the GOP is not the party of “law and order” -- they’re the party of fear and division. Unlike Kevin McCarthy, I’ll actually show up to defend the safety of our communities. Will you chip in $5 to help me kick him out of office in November?

Kevin McCarthy represents my hometown of Bakersfield, a city that’s been the murder capitol of California for five years in a row.

Despite the fact that Kern County has one of the most aggressive sheriff departments in the state and “tough on crime” Republican representatives, the murder rate in Bakersfield is DOUBLE that of New York or San Francisco. Our own sheriff has even been on the record saying that we have a “violent crime problem”.

We need to address local crime and work with community members to find real solutions. Shouting from podiums and pointing fingers at the opposing party is NOT going to create change. I’m willing to work on both sides of the aisle to fight for our safety. Will you donate just $5 to help me defeat him in November?
