“You don’t expect to go to your child’s first parade and leave with something other than happy memories… I left with shrapnel permanently lodged in my body. This lawsuit will hopefully keep other families and other communities from suffering the same way that we and the Highland Park community have suffered”

John,
On July 4th, 2022, in Highland Park, IL, a young man fired 70 rounds of ammunition into a crowd of people, killing 7 people and injuring over 30 more. This shooting was made more deadly because of the weapon that was used: An assault rifle manufactured by Smith & Wesson – that’s why Brady just filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer for its role in this deadly attack.

Because this wasn’t the only mass shooting in which Smith & Wesson’s rifles have been used: Their M&P 15 semiautomatic rifle was used to kill 17 people in Parkland, FL, 16 people in San Bernardino, 12 people in Aurora, CO. Yet another tragedy involving this deadly weapon underscores the importance of holding gun manufacturers accountable for their role in this epidemic.
|
Brady has been fighting to do just that: Last September, Brady filed a complaint with the FTC to investigate Smith & Wesson, highlighting its marketing tactics that make their assault rifles attractive to young men enamored with military fantasies – like the 22-year-old shooter in Highland Park and the 19-year-old shooter in Parkland.

Gun manufacturers will always choose profits over people, despite knowing that assault weapons are the weapon of choice for mass killers and that their assault weapons have been used in multiple horrific mass shootings. It’s far past time we hold gun manufacturers accountable for their roles in senseless gun violence across the country – so Brady is fighting back and we need you with us:
Military-style assault rifles should never be marketed to civilians – especially not young people and potential mass shooters. Can you help us keep the pressure on malicious gun manufacturers who are willfully marketing dangerous weapons of war to the public and add your name to our petition to hold Smith & Wesson accountable?

Thank you for joining us in this lifesaving fight, friend. John.
