Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 74 | October 9th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, We are one month from Election Day and we are working harder than ever to secure victories for our entire Republican ticket. This week brought more good news that our efforts are paying off with the release of a poll that showed our GOP nominee for governor Lee Zeldin in a statistical dead heat with Hochul and our GOP nominee for Attorney General Michael Henry beating Tish James. The poll, conducted by Trafalgar Group, was the only pollster who correctly predicted the result of last year's gubernatorial race in New Jersey. But it doesn't take a poll to know why voters are abandoning the Democrat Party in droves. All you have to do is look at what's happening around the state to know that Democrats' policies have been a complete failure. Our state continues to be besieged by violent crime. The other day, Lee Zeldin, Alison Esposito, Joe Pinion and I held press conferences in response to the horrific murder of mother Keaira Hudson in Buffalo. Keaira was a mom of three who suffered devastating abuse at the hands of her husband who was arrested and released without bail and turned around and murdered her in front of her children. It is a heartbreaking, yet infuriating example of how this deadly policy is destroying lives and families. Keaira was not the only victim of Democrats' bail laws this week alone. In a span of 10 hours, there were 4 separate knife attacks on New York City subways and a dad visiting his child at Marist for parent's weekend was killed, getting caught in the crossfire of a depraved vagrant while getting a cup of coffee in the lobby of his hotel. We also laid to rest FDNY Lt. Alison Russo who was savagely stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack as she was on her way to get a meal. I refuse--REFUSE--to stand by and accept this as the norm for our state, and you should too. Our candidates are out there working tirelessly to spread their message for a return to safety but they need your help. We have one month to rally every single voter we can to our cause. Safety is on the ballot. Crime is on the ballot. These innocent lives were stolen way too soon, but now it is incumbent on us to stand up and say ENOUGH. We must use our vote this November to be their voice...to ensure no one else has to suffer at the hands of these insane, deadly laws. Together, we can restore safety, justice, and pride to our state. We must do it in their memory. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman   Watch: NYGOP Chair Blasts Deadly Bail Laws that led to the Cold-Blooded Murder of Mother of 3 Keaira Hudson Another horrific case of how Kathy Hochul's deadly bail law cost 30-year-old Keaira Hudson, a mom of three, her life. Since the 2020 enactment of the cashless bail law, Langworthy has warned of its particular dangerousness for victims of domestic violence. Only last month, Chairman Langworthy & Lee Zeldin held a press conference on another case of a man with a long history of violence against women who was arrested and released without bail and went on to rape a woman. Keaira Hudson did not deserve to die but our criminal justice system that puts criminals over law-abiding citizens failed her. WATCH HERE Lee Zeldin Within 2 Points of Kathy Hochul -- Michael Henry LEADS Tish James in Second Poll LATEST POLL shows that Lee Zeldin has closed the gap to 2 points... within the statistical margin of error and with 9% undecided AND Michael Henry beats Tish James in a SECOND poll of the Attorney General's race. Help us bring home the 9% remaining undecided voters and close the FINAL Gap! Can you chip in $5, $10, $20, $50, $75 or ANY AMOUNT towards victory on Election Day? Donate Here Candidate Of The Week Jack Martins Candidate for State Senate District 7 Website Facebook Twitter Instagram Donate Jack and his wife Paula are the proud parents of four daughters. He holds a degree from American University and a Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law. He is also a successful business owner. After a distinguished, eight-year career as the Mayor of the Village of Mineola, Jack Martins was sworn in as State Senator in January 2011 and immediately set himself to restoring our state’s fiscal stability while rebuilding the public’s trust in state government. He was ready for the task. During his tenure as mayor, he was widely recognized as an innovative fiscal reformer who provided tax relief by achieving greater inter-agency efficiencies while reducing government spending. At the same time, he led an extraordinary downtown revitalization program that developed a comprehensive “master plan” with the consensus of local community and business leaders. It was one of the first on Long Island to introduce “smart growth” concepts that converted a decaying industrial railroad corridor into a pedestrian-friendly downtown complete with housing and public amenities that improved the quality of life. Mineola’s rebound was soon applauded by organizations like the Regional Plan Association, Vision Long Island and the Rauch Foundation’s Long Island Index which hailed Mineola as one of “the premier smart growth communities in the nation.” Immediately upon taking office in 2011, Jack began working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to restore New York’s fiscal integrity. The 2011-2012 budget that resulted was the first on-time, state budget in more than 20 years! Incredibly, it reduced state spending by 2 percent while eliminating $10 billion deficit without any new taxes or fee increases. That first session also saw Jack work to pass the Middle Class Tax Cut and Job Creation Bill that reduced taxes for more than 4 million New Yorkers to the lowest point in 58 years. The comeback was praised throughout the state with media outlets like Newsday recognizing it as “the most productive in decades.”   NYGOP Must See News: NY Republican, Conservative Parties sue to upend absentee ballot counting in general election Gothamist The complaint was filed Tuesday in state Supreme Court in Saratoga County on behalf of more than half a dozen plaintiffs including Nick Langworthy, chair of the state Republican Party and a congressional candidate for the 23rd District; Gerard Kassar, chair of the State Conservative Party; and two Republican elections commissioners. They are suing the state Board of Elections, Gov. Kathy Hochul, and the leaders of the state Legislature. In a statement late Thursday, Langworthy painted the lawsuit as an attempt to protect against a Democrat-led effort to alter the absentee ballot rules in their favor, accusing the opposing party of having “thwarted the Constitution.” “As we did with (Democrats’) illegal gerrymander scheme, we are taking their unconstitutional laws to the courts to protect voter integrity,” Langworthy said. “Kathy Hochul and the Democrat legislature can’t talk about their disastrous record so they are stopping at nothing to try and undermine free and fair elections in New York, but we will not let it stand.” Read Full Here To stop rising crime and chaos, New Yorkers must vote out Hochul and other pro-madness politicians New York Post It’s a toxic brew of multiple dysfunctions: madmen roaming the streets, gangbanging kids who know the Raise the Age law gives them free license and other serial perps protected by the no-bail laws. The NYPD has managed to bring shootings down, but overall crime and chaos surge on. Gov. Kathy Hochul’s solution? “Gun-violence listening tours” and similar nonsense. Hochul won’t call out Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and their allies for flat-out refusing to fix the state’s disastrous criminal-justice “reforms.” And they all flip off Mayor Eric Adams when he speaks the truth. New York desperately needs a governor, and legislators, who will stand against the madness. It’s every sane citizen’s duty to help vote the pro-lunacy crew out of power. Read Full Here Mother's slaying in Buffalo intensifies GOP blast of bail reform Buffalo News The Wednesday shooting of a mother in Buffalo has not only sparked an areawide hunt for her estranged husband accused of the killing, but an apparent statewide political firestorm too. Top Republicans like gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin and state Republican Chairman Nicholas A. Langworthy are expressing outrage because the suspect wanted for killing Keaira Bennefield in front of her three children had been released from custody in Cheektowaga Town Court the previous night. Read Full Here 3 men stabbed, 1 fatally, in NYC subway attacks in 8-hour span ABC7 NY Three men were stabbed, one fatally, in separate attacks in the New York City subway system within an eight-hour span. A 38-year-old Bronx man was getting off a northbound No. 4 train as it arrived at the 176th St. station just before 9 p.m. Thursday when he was stabbed multiple times in the back and chest by a suspect who came up behind him in what seemed to police to be an unprovoked attack. The victim collapsed on the platform, was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he later died, becoming the seventh person to be killed in the NYC transit system this year, and the second fatal subway stabbing in less than a week. His name was being withheld pending notification of family members. The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, about 5'11, and was last seen wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and Nike sneakers. Hochul Over COVID Tests Finger Lakes Daily News New York’s Republican Congressional Delegation is calling on Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate what they say is Governor Kathy Hochul’s use of tax dollars to purchase COVID-19 test kits from one of her biggest campaign donors. The Representatives claim that on the same day the Governor declared a state of emergency to address hospital capacity and staffing shortages, she was able to side-step the state-mandated competitive bidding process, along with State Comptroller oversight, and grant a no-bid contract to Digital Gadgets the same day their proposal was received. In their letter, the Republicans claim Digital Gadgets sold Hochul millions of tests at approximately twice the price per test paid by other states. Read Full Here Why we, NYPD’s detectives, urge New Yorkers to ditch AG Letitia James New York Post I have had the privilege to help represent the “Greatest Detectives in the World” for more than 20 years, serving alongside highly dedicated fellow union officials. In any recent memory, the union has not come out for or against a candidate for New York state attorney general. This year has to be different. In the midst of some of the toughest times for law enforcement, Attorney General Letitia James has not made public safety a priority. And for the women and men who proudly wear a gold detective shield and all those in blue across our city and state, there has been no sign of support from the top legal official. In late May and early June 2020, violent looters ran through the streets of New York City, smashed storefront windows and stole property. The crimes were caught on camera in many cases; others were witnessed by the brave cops who made hundreds of arrests. The city was gripped by fear — but NYPD detectives and their fellow officers held the line. Read Full Here   Ready to take back our state? Contribute today!
