In case you missed it, the Seattle Seahawks sent a cease and desist letter to
my campaign because my husband Scotty was wearing a jersey they gave him in one
of my ads.
For those who don’t know, my husband Scotty Smiley lost his eyesight due to a
car bomb while serving in Iraq. He then went on to become the first active-duty
blind military officer in U.S. history.
A few years ago, the Seahawks Organization invited Scotty to be a special
guest at one of their games and gave him this exact jersey during their “Salute
to Service.”

Unsurprisingly, the Seattle Seahawks haven’t made the same threats when
liberal candidates used their jerseys in political advertisements.
I knew jumping into politics would present some harmful attacks against me,
but the Seattle Seahawks attacking my husband Scotty and demanding he take off
the jersey they honored him with just makes me sick.
The NFL may use the mantra “Salute to Service,” but they clearly don’t
practice what they preach.
I didn’t back down when federal bureaucrats were working against my efforts to
help Scotty become the first blind active-duty Army officer.
So friend, I don’t plan on backing down to a woke sports team.
