Dear John,

Oregon’s North Coast is a special place of awe-inspiring forest-meets-ocean beauty. In 2018, I was honored to be elected to serve as the representative for Oregon House District 32, spanning Clatsop County to parts of Tillamook and Washington County. I took the leap and left my job as a civil servant to run for office because I strongly believe that North Coast communities deserve a representative who will fight for affordable housing, access to healthcare, and our environment.

Through a tough primary and general election, OLCV was in my corner every step of the way. A dedicated group of OLCV staff and volunteers were right there with me, climbing the hills of Astoria to knock on thousands of doors and making countless phone calls to get out the vote.

Often candidates like me from modest backgrounds are up against opponents with the support of deep-pocketed special interests. That’s what makes the work that OLCV PAC does so important. They pool modest resources from folks like you and me. Then, using those resources, they work to elect environmental champions who will put people over polluters.

As a freshman legislator, one of the most important votes that I took was for HB2020, the Clean Energy Jobs bill. I was proud to stand up against polluters and for the people of my district and vote yes on Clean Energy Jobs. That vote made me the target of a recall effort led by Timber Unity, simply because I was true to my campaign promises and voted to protect our environment.

During the recall threat, OLCV once again had my back. OLCV PAC was the single largest contributor to my defense against the recall effort. I’m happy to report that on December 4th Timber Unity announced that they had failed to collect enough signatures and the recall is off.

But we’re not in the clear. Candidates and elected officials like me continue to face an uphill battle against deep-pocketed special interests. I wouldn’t be where I am today without having OLCV PAC in my corner. Help ensure that they have the resources they need to send future environmental champions to office by making a contribution today.

Sincerely,
Rep. Tiffiny Mitchell
