Give your brain a workout and help nature thrive

Dear John

A study last year showed that 6 out of 10 UK adults can’t identify a maple leaf or recognise the leaves of an oak tree [1] – maybe not that surprising considering the UK has some of the lowest levels of woodland in Europe.

But do you reckon you can do better in our Boxing Day tree quiz? Can you tell your pine from your poplar? Your birch from your beech? Here’s a warm-up question to get you started:
Conkers grow on horse chestnut trees.

TRUE ([link removed])
We think trees are amazing. They absorb greenhouse gas emissions, can help prevent flooding, and provide habitats for wildlife. That’s why in a world facing a climate and nature emergency, we’re campaigning to double the UK’s tree cover.

But as much as we love them here, I won’t pretend we all got the answers right! If you fancy your chances, please give our quiz a go then share it with your friends and family. The more people we can get talking about trees the better.
I'LL TEST MY KNOWLEDGE ([link removed])
Good luck!
