Detransitioner loses natural singing voice after ‘gender-affirming care’

In Europe, countries including Finland, Sweden, and the UK have limited ‘gender-affirming care’ for children after determining that in many cases, the scientific evidence did not support medical intervention.
Yet, schools, politicians, and medical providers in the U.S. are doubling down on ‘gender-affirming care,’ often without the involvement of parents.
‘Gender-affirming care’ isn’t just about using someone’s preferred name and pronouns. It also incorporates serious medical interventions such as puberty blockers, hormones and, in some cases, irreversible surgery.

Cat Cattison, a semi-professional singer and detransitioner from California, knows this well. She began questioning her “gender identity” from the young age of 5. At 28, she decided to medically “transition” to a boy.
Her journey began by calling Planned Parenthood, which she heard provided ‘gender-affirming services.’ After a 30-minute phone call with a Planned Parenthood doctor whom she never met, Cat was prescribed testosterone, a Schedule III controlled substance.

She also scheduled an elective double mastectomy by talking to a different doctor at Planned Parenthood who, also without meeting her in person, wrote a recommendation letter for “top surgery.”
But after three months, Cat had concerns about the effects testosterone was having on her body. In addition to losing her natural singing voice, she was experiencing a slew of other negative side effects: heart palpitations, nausea, and a pain in her right side.
To prevent causing more permanent damage to her body and voice, Cat stopped testosterone cold turkey. She canceled her elective double mastectomy and withdrew her legal name change. She decided to detransition and go back to living as a woman.

Now, Cat is sharing her story to save others from making her irreversible mistakes.
"I don't believe that people should just be uncritically thinking that loving yourself is getting surgery and altering your body," Cat said.
Media, Big Tech, and activists are working overtime to silence voices like Cat, whose devastating stories reveal the harms that gender ideology is inflicting on vulnerable children and young adults.
