Since days before Hurricane Ian made landfall, Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis have been laser-focused on the recovery efforts for communities affected by the hurricane. The Governor is working with local, state, and federal officials to provide direct relief to Floridians and support first responders working around the clock to help those in need.
On Wednesday, Governor DeSantis announced the early completion of the bridge to Pine Island restoring access for emergency personnel, utility trucks, and crews to begin working to make the island safe. The bridge was completed in just three days.

A week after Hurricane Ian made landfall, nearly 2.6 million power outages have been restored. In a press conference, Governor DeSantis said he wanted to make Southwest Florida the linemen capital of the world – and he did.

Governor DeSantis and the First Lady have been on the ground in Florida’s hardest-hit communities since before Hurricane Ian even made landfall in the state. They have been working to support Floridians and the tens of thousands of first responders that have sprung into action to help those in need.

In response to Hurricane Ian, First Lady DeSantis launched the Florida Disaster Fund to help provide direct relief to Floridians hit hardest by the storm. Her effort received an overwhelming response from across the state and country and raised more than $40 million within the week of activation.

On October 1st, Florida’s gas tax holiday went into effect, saving Floridians $200 million by lowering the price of gas by 25.3 cents per gallon. Florida now has the 5th lowest gas prices in the country.
