Hi John,

It’s full speed ahead to Election Day! So we’re reaching out with a quick update on the work Emerge President A’shanti Gholar is doing around the country right now to support our alums, build the Emerge community, and inspire Democratic women to transform politics at every level.

At Emerge, we know that a strong economy is one that provides for the diverse communities that helped build it. That’s why A’shanti recently took the stage at our very first Pioneering Women of Labor event to honor the bold women who have played a historic role in the movement for labor rights, including AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride, and IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes.

With just a few short weeks until the midterms – and even less time until the final voter registration deadlines of the year – A’shanti joined political strategist and social justice advocate L. Joy Williams for an energizing episode of the Sunday Civics podcast. The message? It's crucial for all of us to connect with family, friends, and community members about what’s at stake in every race, organize around issues that matter, and make a plan to vote, volunteer, or take the first steps to run for office in the next cycle!

We’ve seen time and again that when Black women lead, ALL our communities win. But it takes collective effort to overcome the barriers they face to getting elected to office. So A’shanti headed to Georgia for Power Rising, a convening dedicated to elevating Black women in activism and community engagement. While there, she moderated a panel of sister organizations working overtime to protect our progress and deliver another breakthrough year for Black women in politics.

And earlier, during a recent #LeadersMatter salon, A’shanti connected with Michigan State Senator and Emerge alum Mallory McMorrow. The two discussed the power of personal stories and how Emerge is helping women in every state to speak up, make themselves heard, and inspire others to join our nationwide movement for meaningful and lasting change.

We have a lot of work ahead to bring about the political transformation we deserve. But make no mistake: Our president A'shanti, Emerge women, and our community are ready to lead. But we need you with us to power our movement to victory in the November elections and beyond.

So please, with the direction of our country on the line, will you donate $5 or more today to help fuel Emerge’s efforts to recruit, train, and elect Democratic women up and down the ballot in every state?

Thank you for being a part of this movement,

Team Emerge
