White House Adopts CAGW Efficiency Proposals
*

In June, the White House released its comprehensive plan to streamline and reorganize the federal government, which represented the culmination of a process that began in March 2017. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) worked hand in hand with the Office of Management and Budget on the plan, and as a result, many of its proposals mirror recommendations CAGW has championed for years in its annual "Prime Cuts [ [link removed] ]". *President Trump Heeds CAGW Call to Slash UN Funding
*

President Trump acted on CAGW's long-standing call for cuts in funding to the wasteful and corrupt United Nations. The administration negotiated a $285 million reduction in the UN's 2018-2019 operating budget. In addition, the President secured a $600 million reduction in the UN's 2017 peacekeeping budget and has pledged that the U.S. will no longer shoulder more than a quarter of the costs of the UN's peacekeeping operations. *CAGW Cheers Regulatory Rollback*

CAGW's ongoing efforts to help President Trump lift the heavy hand of overbearing government that has stifled economic growth and swelled the federal bureaucracy resulted in the elimination of 176 outdated, unnecessary, or duplicative regulations in fiscal year 2018, saving American businesses and families from $23 billion in regulatory costs. *CAGW Applauds Supreme Court Right-to-Work Decision
*

In June, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of workers in "Janus v. AFSCME", which found that requiring public-sector employees to make payments to unions with which they do not wish to affiliate is a violation of the First Amendment. The decision effectively establishes right-to-work status for state and local government employees and represents a major milestone in the fight against forced participation in union activities, which CAGW has long opposed. *CAGW Sends Agencies Waste-Cutting Recommendations
*

During a Cabinet meeting in October, President Trump directed agency chiefs to cut their budgets by 5 percent in the next fiscal year. A top White House official reached out to CAGW immediately following the President's directive, saying "CAGW is perfectly positioned" to show the agencies how to get the job done. In response, CAGW submitted recommendations to 16 federal departments and agencies detailing spending cuts they can make to implement President Trump's "Nickel Plan." *CCAGW Members Impact Washington Policy*

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste's (CCAGW) Action Alert campaigns continue to empower taxpayers to make their voices heard on how their tax dollars are spent. CCAGW members and supporters sent more than 115,000 e-mails to lawmakers on important tax and spending issues during the 115th Congress, including more than 15,000 letters demanding passage of "Tax Reform 2.0," more than 12,000 e-mails in support of President Trump's nearly $15 billion waste-cutting rescissions proposal, and 5,200 e-mails opposing the return of earmarks. "Take part in CCAGW's current Action Alert campaigns [ [link removed] ]".

*CAGW's Schatz Recognized as "Top Lobbyist"*

For the ninth year in a row, "The Hill" newspaper recognized CAGW for its high visibility and clout on Capitol Hill by naming CAGW President Tom Schatz one of the "Top Lobbyists of 2018." [ [link removed] ]

*CAGW Receives Widespread Media Coverage in 2018*

CAGW once again received widespread media coverage in 2018, with appearances on television, radio, and in newspapers and newsmagazines from coast to coast. From nationally televised interviews on FOX News Channel [ [link removed] ] and C-SPAN's "Washington Journal [ [link removed] ]" to hundreds of citations on local ABC [ [link removed] ], CBS [ [link removed] ], and NBC [ [link removed] ] affiliates and articles in "The Dallas Morning News [ [link removed] ]", "Detroit Free Press [ [link removed] ]", "Las Vegas Review-Journal [ [link removed] ]", "The New York Times [ [link removed] ]", and "USA Today [ [link removed] ]", to name just a few, CAGW made Washington's runaway spending one of the top news stories in America. CAGW also placed a record 42 op-eds in periodicals nationwide this year, including "The Hill [ [link removed] ]", "Houston Chronicle [ [link removed] ]", "Investor's Business Daily [ [link removed] ]", and "USA Today [ [link removed] ]".

*CCAGW PAC-Endorsed Candidates Win Big*

In the latest election cycle, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) yet again demonstrated that its endorsement is a "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval," telling voters which candidates are friends of taxpayers and which are foes. Out of the 95 CCAGW PAC-endorsed candidates, 78, or 82 percent, emerged victorious. All candidates endorsed by CCAGW PAC have shown a commitment to fiscal conservatism. "Read more about the winning candidates CCAGW PAC endorsed [ [link removed] ]."

*And in the States …*

CCAGW's state-based lobbying efforts helped pass a bill reducing the regulatory burden placed on wireless providers to expand wireless infrastructure in Virginia [ [link removed] ]. In Colorado [ [link removed] ], CAGW hailed the defeat of a bill seeking to tie broadband grants to so-called net neutrality practices. In Iowa and Missouri, CCAGW applauded new individual and corporate tax cuts. In addition, CCAGW's issue advocacy campaigns helped to defeat ballot initiatives in Montana [ [link removed] ], South Dakota [ [link removed] ], and Washington [ [link removed] ] that would have raised excise taxes. _________________________________________
