Dear John
I write this words as I return to Washington D.C. from an intense visit to Brazil, where alongside WOLA’s Director for the Andes, Gimena Sánchez-Garzoli, I was part of the International Mission of Human Rights Specialists observing the first round of the general elections. We left Brazil with mixed feelings. On the one hand, extremely concerned by the rise in political violence, hate speech and fake news but also encouraged by the inspiring activists who continue compromised with an extremely challenging fight to ensure divisive discourses do not take over the country and justice becomes a reality for all.
Read more about our visit in a fascinating event hosted by la Nueva Prensa and Contagio Radio. In this weeks Newsletter, you can also read about the latest on the Ayotzinapa case and the harrowing situation at the U.S.-Mexico border. Warm regards,

We are looking for an administrative, entry-level professional to support two directors and their programs with a variety of tasks, including: event planning, clerical duties, database management, webinar and in-person meeting support, and other logistical support. It’s not too late to make a gift in honor of the work of all of our honorees at this year’s 2022 WOLA Human Rights Awards and Benefit Gala. As you’ve read, each one of them faces tremendous odds and opposition to their fight for justice and equality. We know that you value their work, so what better way to salute their perseverance with a donation to WOLA in their honor? We thank you in advance for your generosity. |
