How many
bodies can
they hide
behind
their eyes

graves
in the
sandy
soil
of a
pine
forest

mass
graves
in cities
discarded
bodies
in backyards
under rubble
along roads
and streets

How
many
ways
are
there
to kill
a man
a woman
or even
a child

One day
we will know

Beau Beausoleil is a poet and activist (Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here) based in San Francisco, California. His most recent book of poems is Another Way Home (Blue Light Press - 2022).
