Hey there – Josh Shapiro here. In Pennsylvania, I’m running in a dead-heat race against one of the most extreme candidates running for office in the country this year.

My opponent is an insurrectionist who participated in the Capitol riot on January 6th. And if elected, he would ban abortion entirely without exceptions, stripping critical health care from millions of Pennsylvanians.

Listen, Donald Trump knows this is a swing state, and he really wants to win Pennsylvania. He’s even come to rallies in the Commonwealth and is planning on spending big on TV ads right here.

But Trump is gunning for Doug Mastriano to be Pennsylvania’s next Governor for one reason: Mastriano will do anything to make sure that Trump wins in 2024. Whether that means decertifying the results, de-registering all 9 million Pennsylvanians currently on the voter rolls, or banning vote-by-mail – Mastriano and Trump are in lockstep about dismantling our very democracy.

And this isn’t just happening in the Commonwealth. In states across the country, we’re seeing a very similar story play out.

Democratic candidates nationwide are facing dangerous candidates who want to dismantle our democracy once and for all. Despite that, those races – like mine – are neck-and-neck. If Democrats are going to bridge those gaps and win on Election Day, we must act now.
