Dear Friend,
There is no denying it, 2019 was a hard year for abortion supporters, and it was a year filled with hard-fought battles. But throughout the fight, we felt your support. <[link removed]>
This spring, three URGE states (Ohio, Georgia, and Alabama) passed total (or effectively total) abortion bans. While we lost in these hostile legislatures, we fought hard, mobilized young people, and educated communities about these harmful bans. Because of URGE, the voices of young people rang out in these struggles for our basic rights.
This fight now moves to the courts and (ultimately) the ballot box, and we refuse to allow these bans to further stigmatize our people, our bodies, and our healthcare decisions. And so now, URGE needs your support more than ever before. <[link removed]>
URGE is deepening our commitment to organizing in states where both the challenges and opportunities are great, in Ohio, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, and Kansas. Whether it is through our Integrated Voter Engagement campaigns, our City Activist Networks, or our Campus-based Chapters, young leaders around the South and Midwest are ready to take the fight to 2020.
Are you with us? <[link removed]>
As we look to the new year, URGE has invested in critical on-the-ground field and policy staff that will continue to carry our work forward, engaging young people, partners, and elected officials in the fight for reproductive justice for young queer and trans people of color.
