Indivisibles,
We’ve got BIG plans for next year. 2018 (when we built the Blue Wave) and
2019 (when we won big in state races nationwide) showed us just how much
of an impact our movement can have. So in 2020, we’re putting it all on
the line to elect progressive leaders up and down the ballot.
Making that happen will take a lot of work, and we’re tracking a ton of
moving pieces as we move into next year. Below, we’ll give you a detailed
look at some of our big-picture programs, but you should know up-front:
none of it is possible without you.
To be ready for everything that’s in store in 2020, we’ve calculated that
we need to raise $230,000 by the end of the year -- and we’ve got $64,000
left to raise in the next six days to get there.
The good news is a very generous donor has agreed to match every dollar
Indivisibles give up to $50,000, so when you [ [link removed] ]make a donation today to
fund all our 2020 plans, your impact will be doubled.
So what is that $230,000 going to help us fund? Here’s a breakdown of some
of the work your gift will support in 2020:
Election Work
Our movement is engaging with the presidential election, House and Senate
races nationwide, and key state-level elections. We built the Blue Wave in
2018, we won big in state races this year, and now we have a chance to do
it again and have even more of an impact.
* We’ve budgeted almost a million dollars for our congressional
endorsements program. This includes $300,000 on a direct mail program
to reach out to voters in key districts, $50,000 on flyers for
canvassers to use when they’re knocking doors, $400,000 on paid media
and other outreach, and $100,000 on direct contributions to candidates
whose campaigns Indivisibles believe in.
* We’re also engaging in the presidential race -- whether with resources
like our scorecard, debate guides, and tactic training, or with our
staff and volunteers’ direct work to uphold the Indivisible Pledge and
elect the Democratic nominee. We’re expecting to spend almost $200,000
on our engagement in the presidential election.
* And don’t forget, once the primaries are over, we’re going all-in to
elect the nominees at the federal and state level -- investing even
more to build an even bigger Blue Wave in November 2020.
Advocacy and Organizing Work
2020 might be an election year, but it’s also a year when our movement can
have a HUGE impact on major policy decisions. Our groups are working
nationwide to get progressive wins, and we’re providing the tools,
training, and infrastructure they need to make it happen.
* Weeks of Action -- one of our hallmark campaign strategies is the
coordinated week of action. These drives generate thousands of
constituent phone calls, groups host hundreds of events and rallies,
and Indivisibles build public pressure that can’t be ignored, all on
one key issue. A week of action often costs close to $50,000 when you
account for the communications, web hosting, mapping, and merchandise
that make it happen.
* Trainings and gatherings -- our organizers run trainings to help local
groups engage in the elections as effectively as possible, and we host
regional gatherings that bring leaders together to learn from each
other and build a more coordinated movement. We’ve budgeted over
$160,000 next year to run those trainings around the country.
Ongoing Expenses
These are less glamorous, but it takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work to
keep this movement running. While it might not make a splashy image for
social media, all the infrastructure and staff time we use to communicate
with Indivisibles, do policy research, and keep our resources up-to-date
is absolutely crucial to making sure Indivisibles have an impact.
* Access to our email tool costs $7,656 every month, which allows us to
get all the latest updates and toolkits into Indivisibles’ hands.
* Sending a single text message broadcast to Indivisibles costs around
$6,000. It’s pricey, but it’s our most effective tool to reach
Indivisibles quickly when news breaks and we need to drop everything
and make calls.
* Our website is a one-stop resource for information and tools to take
action, and we know (from experience) how vital it is that it’s fast
and easy to use. Hosting it costs $1,000 a month.
* Hosting our event map costs $8,000 a month, but it’s the best way to
make sure Indivisibles can come together in communities nationwide to
pressure elected officials and build visibility on critical issues.
These lists don’t even account for some of the harder-to-count costs, like
staff time, office space and supplies, etc. With all those costs and more,
we need to raise $230,000 in the next six days to make sure we can get
started on all our priorities right away in January.
Since we have a matching donor this month, every dollar you give will go
twice as far -- that’s twice the political work, twice the advocacy, and
twice all the other work we’re doing to wield our progressive movement’s
power to create real change.
[ [link removed] ]We can’t enact any of our plans without you, and we’ve got six days to
make sure we’re ready for next year. So please, we need you to give today
to have your gift matched and support all the electoral, policy, and other
work Indivisible will do in 2020.

movement’s work possible.
