President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush welcomed Ambassador Dr. John Nkengasong, the new U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Special Representative for Health Diplomacy, to the Bush Center last week.
In this role, Ambassador Nkengasong leads the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS relief – making the Cameroon native the first person of African origin to hold this position. While visiting the Bush Center, Ambassador Nkengasong also sat down for an episode of The Strategerist podcast – where he discussed his journey as a youth deeply affected by malaria to his leadership in public health, as well as the impact PEPFAR has made and continues to make.
