You Don't Want to Miss This! Welcome to Catch Up With Young Kim, my weekly e-newsletter to get you the latest on my work for you in Congress. My team and I are here to serve you. If you ever need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office. I also encourage you to receive real-time updates on my work for you in Congress by following me on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Instagram. Protecting public safety and supporting our law enforcement are top priorities of mine in Congress. Thank you to local police and fire departments for joining me for a Public Safety Advisory Committee meeting to discuss ways to strengthen our workforce and improve information sharing. Placentia-Linda Hospital is a 114-bed acute-care facility that has provided quality care to our area for 50 years. I visited with the Placentia-Linda Hospital team to hear more about their work and introduced the National Nursing Workforce Center Act to grow and strengthen our nurse workforce. I'm always grateful to our local police for their service and dedication to our CA-39 communities. I enjoyed sharing coffee and catching up with members of La Habra Police Department with City Councilman James Gomez! Our Placentia VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic will play a vital role in supporting over 4,000 U.S. veterans across North Orange County. I thank everyone who helped make this facility a reality and was thrilled to join in celebrating its grand opening. Watch Here. Earlier this week was National Taco Day, also known as Taco Tuesday here in SoCal! Team Young enjoyed celebrating with Gonzos Tacos in Fullerton. Education is key to unlocking opportunities. I met with local education leaders to discuss the importance of a quality education, STEM, school choice and ensuring parents have a seat at the table in their child's education. I'll always be a voice for parents and their kids. Team Young didn't pho-get to celebrate National Noodle Day! Thank you Monarch 9 Cafe in Yorba Linda for the delicious Ginger Chicken Pho and great hospitality as always. On Thursday, Team Young joined the Titan Family to celebrate the new Aquatic Center at Cal State University Fullerton. The 53-meter swimming pool will serve as home to the men’s and women’s water polo teams, kinesiology program and as a recreation area for students. The National Youth Cyber Defense Competition was created by the Air and Space Forces Association to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM disciplines critical to our nation's future. Congrats to our amazing Fullerton Civil Air Patrol’s CyberPatriot team for earning a spot at nationals! "Know God, and make Him known." -Chad Williams We shared an inspiring morning of reflection, service and community at the Anaheim prayer breakfast featuring former Navy SEAL Chad Williams, a combat veteran who served our nation from 2004 to 2010. Buena Park Goes to College this past weekend was a success! My team and I were proud to help recognize this year’s students of recognition and talk to students about internship opportunities in my CA and DC offices. Congratulations to all of our seniors. Your future is bright! Productive conversation last week with House Small Business Committee Ranking Member Blaine Luetkemeyer, committee members, and California and Florida bankers on challenges facing small businesses. I'll keep fighting to make their voices heard, reduce burdensome regulations and increase access to the capital they need to achieve their dream and thrive. I encourage CA-39 students interested in answering the call to serve in our U.S. military to apply for a service academy nomination through my office. The deadline to apply is Friday, November 4.
